Hikvision DS-3WAP522-SI Wi-Fi 5 1200M Ceiling Access Point

Hikvision DS-3WAP522-SI Wi-Fi 5 1200M Ceiling Access Point

An office with thirty staff, a classroom with forty students, a retail floor with constant foot traffic — these spaces share one characteristic. No single wall position covers them adequately. Signal drops in far corners. Partitions create dead zones. Walls absorb range before it reaches the back of the room. The Hikvision DS-3WAP522-SI ceiling-mount access point solves this from above. Mounted at ceiling height, it broadcasts downward and outward in every direction simultaneously — covering an entire open space from a single PoE-powered unit.

Overhead Coverage for Open Spaces

The DS-3WAP522-SI is an indoor 802.11ac AP with a dual-frequency four-flow design that meets the wireless coverage requirements of small, medium, and micro enterprises. It mounts to the ceiling. The omnidirectional signal radiates down into the space below — reaching every desk, every chair, and every corner without the signal loss that wall-mounted APs suffer when broadcasting across a room. One Gigabit PoE port handles both data and power. One cable comes out of the ceiling. The AP connects, powers on, and begins serving clients. No separate power run. No visible cables on the wall.

1167Mbps Dual-Band 802.11ac Wave 2 — Up to 80 Clients

The DS-3WAP522-SI delivers 802.11ac Wave 2 at 1167Mbps total throughput across dual bands, with support for 80+ concurrent user connections. The 5GHz radio handles high-bandwidth tasks — video calls, file transfers, cloud applications. The 2.4GHz radio serves legacy devices and those further from the AP. 2×2 MU-MIMO transmits to multiple clients simultaneously. Eighty devices connect at once without the throughput collapse that single-stream APs suffer under load. Digital Store

Auto RF Optimisation — Self-Managing Channels and Power

The DS-3WAP522-SI supports Auto RF optimisation and intelligent fast roaming. Auto RF monitors the RF environment continuously. It selects the cleanest available channel and adjusts transmit power automatically. In a building with multiple DS-3WAP522-SI units, adjacent APs coordinate to avoid interference with each other. No manual RF planning after deployment. The network self-optimises as the environment changes. Dataworld Kenya

Intelligent Fast Roaming — Sessions Stay Active on the Move

A staff member walking from one end of an open office to the other passes through the coverage zones of multiple APs. Fast roaming hands off the connection between APs without dropping the session. Video calls stay connected. File transfers continue. VoIP calls do not break. The transition is invisible to the user and requires no client-side configuration to activate.

Where the DS-3WAP522-SI Gets the Work Done

The Open-Plan Office With Multiple Workstations

Thirty desks. No partitions. One ceiling AP in the centre of the floor. The DS-3WAP522-SI covers the entire space from above. Every desk receives consistent signal. The 80+ client recommendation handles a full team simultaneously — video calls, cloud applications, and file transfers all running at once without throughput degradation. Auto RF keeps the channel clean as neighbouring APs on other floors or adjacent spaces adjust. The School Classroom or Training Room

A ceiling AP at the centre of a classroom reaches every student’s device. The DS-3WAP522-SI supports 8 SSIDs with VLAN binding — staff and student networks run on the same AP without mixing traffic. WPA2-PSK secures each SSID independently. Fast roaming keeps student devices connected as they move between classrooms without re-authenticating. The ceiling mount position removes the AP from reach — no accidental disconnection, no physical interference with the unit during class.

The SME Office Deploying Its First Managed AP

The DS-3WAP522-SI is an indoor 802.11ac access point that meets the wireless coverage requirements of small, medium, and micro enterprises. A single unit covers a small office completely. Two units cover a larger floor with overlap for seamless roaming. The ceiling mount installs in minutes — one cable up through the ceiling tile, the AP clips into position. No specialist installation required. Full product documentation and datasheet are available on the official Hikvision DS-3WAP522-SI product page. Dataworld Kenya

The Retail Store or Showroom Serving Staff and Customers

A retail floor needs staff Wi-Fi for inventory systems and payment terminals. It needs guest Wi-Fi for customer engagement. It needs neither network to be accessible to the other. The DS-3WAP522-SI runs both on separate SSIDs with VLAN isolation from a single ceiling-mounted unit. The overhead position covers the full floor area regardless of where stock, display stands, or counters are positioned. Auto RF handles channel selection in a busy shopping centre environment where dozens of competing APs share the same spectrum.
